LUSAKA—The Zambian Government is taking a significant step towards streamlining mining-related services by integrating the Mining Cadastre System with national platforms.

Mines and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe announced the initiative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to the people through digital transformation.

In collaboration with Smart Zambia Institute, the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development will incorporate mining services, including licensing into the Government Service Bus. Currently, the mining cadastre operates on the standalone Trimble Land Folio system. However, the planned integration aims to connect it with key government systems such as Tax Administration, Patents, and Company Registration, ensuring seamless service delivery.

This effort aligns with Zambia’s broader digital transformation agenda, designed to improve efficiency, accessibility, and transparency in government services. Officials believe the integration will not only enhance operations within the mining sector but also foster a more coordinated approach to governance.

Mr. Kabuswe reaffirmed the government’s dedication to leveraging technology to modernize critical services, making them more accessible to citizens and stakeholders in the mining industry. The initiative underscores Zambia’s push towards a more connected and efficient public service framework, promising long-term benefits for both the government and the mining sector.
